Principal’s Message, Fall 2024

Dear Carthay Parents and Guardians, 

Principal Message 

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  It is with great joy and enthusiasm that I welcome our incoming kindergarten students, new students, and all returning students and their families to Carthay Environmental Studies STEM Magnet. As we come together, let us celebrate the possibilities that lie ahead and the sense of unity that makes our school community truly remarkable. 

I also want to express my gratitude to our dedicated team of educators and staff.  Your passion for teaching and unwavering commitment to our students’ well-being are the driving forces behind our school’s success.  As we continue this journey together, let us stand united, supporting one another to create an environment where excellence thrives.  As we say goodbye to those who departed our school, let us welcome those who are new to our school.   

Carthay students will continue to build on the goals for the 2024-2025 school year that align with the district’s strategic plan.  The first goal will focus on improving student achievement in the content areas of English Language Arts and Math.  In ELA we foster literacy independence through the implementation of our core reading program and literacy-based centers during our ELA block of instructional time.  In the content area of mathematics, we will focus on increasing student achievement through the implementation of best mathematical practices, math centers, and the use of data analysis to guide our classroom instruction.  The second goal will ensure that the emotional and social needs of students are coordinated to support student relationships and foster positive learning outcomes.  We will make a concerted effort to embed SEL strategies and practices with our staff and students on a regular basis. 

At Carthay, we believe in the power of collaboration and open communication.  Parents, we encourage you to be active participants in your child’s education.  Your involvement and support make a significant difference in their academic achievement and overall development.  Let’s work together to ensure their success.
